About the course

The Department of Astronomy offers graduate study leading to the Master?s of Science degree in astronomy. The degree is designed to prepare students either for further graduate work leading to the doctorate, or for a professional career in teaching or in industry. In brief, all students will complete coursework in astronomy and ly related fields, and then complete either a written thesis (?Plan A?) or pass a comprehensive examination (?Plan B?).

　　Thesis projects are conducted in collaboration with department faculty, whose research ranges from the structure and evolution of stars, to the physics of the brightest explosions in the universe, to the formation and growth of galaxies. Scholarships - View all scholarships Internships

How to apply

Entry requirements for San Diego State University

Have earned an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or one approved by a Ministry of Education. A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or about 80%) or higher is required to be considered for admission. TOEFL minimum score of 80 iBT/ 550 PBT, IELTS overall score of 6.5 or higher. Official transcripts in sealed envelopes from all postsecondary institutions attended. Students with international coursework must submit both the official transcript and proof of degree. If the documents are not in English they must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
