About the course

Students pursuing this master’s degree will be trained to address critical issues pertaining to agriculture through a variety of lenses. This research-based degree will provide students with theoretical foundations in agricultural education, leadership and communications and a strong understanding of innovative research methods.

  Graduates of this program often pursue advanced academic or professional degrees to obtain highly competitive careers industry, the public sector and academia.

  The master of science, with a thesis, requires a minimum of 32 semester-hours of coursework. The campus/synchronous degree program plan consists of at least 32 semester-credit hours, typically, 20 semester-credit hours will be taken in the department, 3-4 of these hours will be credited for the thesis, and a maximum of 12 semester-credit hours of coursework may be in supporting field(s) of interest. While a majority of the courses must be completed on campus, students enrolled in the master of science – thesis option program are permitted to apply up to 50% of online courses toward the degree program. Students must successfully complete a master’s level thesis to fulfill program requirements.

Entry requirements for Texas A and M University - College Station

Official transcripts: Transcripts must be submitted from each higher education institution previously attended.

  a minimum TOEFL score (from a test date within two years) of: 550 for paper-based testing (p-BT) or 80 internet-based testing (i-BT), or:

  a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall,

  a minimum PTE Academic score of 53,

  a GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146

  Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores: Exam must be taken within the last five years. Scores must be requested from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and sent electronically using Texas A&M University code 6003.

  A one-page minimum statement of intent and professional career goals.

  Three (3) Recommendation letters for Master’s, Five (5) Recommendation letters for Doctorate.

  Grade Point Average (GPA) – Minimum 3.0 for Master’s.

  Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores – Must receive minimum writing score of 3.0 for Master’s, minimum of 4.0 for doctoral.
