This degree is for those who have a non-nursing undergraduate degree and are looking for a career change to enter the nursing industry.
The Master of Nursing is a graduate entry coursework degree that will prepare you for professional practice as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. The course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council and will provide you with the highest quality person-centred care, preparing you for work in local, national and international healthcare settings.
You will complete a prescribed course of study focusing on the health system, nursing practice and its contexts, care across the lifespan and include specific clinical areas such as mental health nursing, community health nursing and acute care nursing. You will also complete a minimum of 860 hours of professional experience in private and public hospitals, mental health services, community health centres and schools. Qualifications used as the basis of admission must have been completed within 10 years prior to application.
Qualifications older than 10 years will be considered subject to the applicant providing further information substantiating appropriate further education and development. In these cases, admission will be at the discretion of Sydney Nursing School. If you do not meet this criterion, you will need to undertake a tertiary unit of study prior to admission. IELTS - A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 7.0 in each band
TOEFL IBT - A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 24 in Reading and Listening, 27 in Writing and 23 in Speaking
