About the course

Refine your musicianship and performance skills, and use them to inform your teaching practices. This program will help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a capable musician and successful music teaching professional who understands the artistic, instructional and business sides of the profession. Focus your studies in one of three concentration areas ? piano, instrumental or voice. Program coursework, exercises and experiences are designed to help you improve as a performer and positively impact your students? lives. Upon graduation, you will be capable of structuring successful learning experiences, refining your teaching practices in private and group settings, and understanding the basic financial principles needed to operate a successful private music teaching studio. The demand for teachers is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Entry requirements for University of Missouri - Kansas City

A bachelor's or first-level professional degree from a regionally accredited institution. If the degree is from a non-U.S. college or university, the institution must be recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned. The degree must at least be equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree or first-level professional degree. The Registrar will vet and make a recommendation to Dean of School of Graduate Studies for approval
