About the course
The School of Music has approximately 350 undergraduate majors, approximately 100 graduate students, and more than 70 artist-teachers. We are known for our wide and varied performance programs and our national leadership in music education. We offer courses in six distinct areas for highly talented and motivated students who have the opportunity to perform in enriching and award-winning ensembles and to work with internationally renowned guest artists.The master of music is designed as a two-year program that offers in-depth study for students highly gifted in music performance, music education, music theory, composition, or research.Students seeking this degree are required to complete 30-32 hours of course work, culminating in a creative project, recital, research paper, or thesis near the end of their degree work.This degree plan requires an audition or portfolio review for admission, all students are also required to complete a master’s oral exit exam in their final semester. Entry requirements for Ball State University
You must have a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.You must have earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from the undergraduate degree-granting institution if you are a master’s or artist diploma applicant.
