About the course

Utilise sophisticated mathematical and statistical modeling to solve real-world problems and gain an edge over your competition with the Master of Mathematical Sciences (Financial Mathematics) at UOW. You will develop the practical skills necessary to be a leader in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of the models used to structure transactions, manage risk and construct investment strategies.

  The Master of Mathematical Sciences (Financial Mathematics) will equip you with a range of analytic, modeling, statistical and computational skills that can be applied directly to the financial sector, as well as the broader business landscape.

  In your first year, you will study core preparation and foundational subjects in areas such as multivariate and vectoir calculus, differential equations, statistical inference and model building, and managerial finance. From your second year, you will also study advanced topics and investigations in these areas, as well as having the opportunity to complete cross-disciplinary subjects in other fields where mathematics and statistics are critical, such as engineering, health, and computer science. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Wollongong

The following level of English is required to gain admission to this program: IELTS Academic: 6.5 with subscores of 6.0 in each section. TOEFL ibt: 86 (Reading 18, Writing 18, Listening 17, Speaking 17).

  A bachelor's degree with a major or minor in mathematics or statistics.

  If applying based on a minor in mathematics or statistics, it must include a minimum of 12 credit points of mathematics or statistics subjects at the 200-level or higher.
