About the course
This course requires successful completion of 160 credit points which includes eight core units, four specialisation units from one of the two specialisations offered at Sydney City Campus, four specified elective units, and compulsory professional experience. nformation and Communications Technology (ICT) has penetrated into all areas of industry sectors, such as retail, banking, health and education. ICT professionals are required to have cross disciplinary knowledge and skills, while the speed of change in ICT requires professionals to update their knowledge and skills every few years. Western Sydney University recognises this and our Postgraduate ICT course reflects the changing landscape.
The course concentrates on developing and extending your knowledge needed for ICT roles within the fast-growing ICT industry and other relevant industry sectors. This is reflected in our specialisations and units that cover core ICT discipline topics such as Networking, and Web and Mobile Computing.
The Networking major is aimed at providing students with knowledge in emerging areas of networking. It focuses on essential fundamentals as well as advanced knowledge on the principles, practices, protocols and standards in some key areas of the networking discipline. This major prepares students for careers in network security and management, multimedia and wireless communications, and other contemporary and emerging networking areas. The major is also designed to introduce students to trends and key research areas in some emerging fields in networking so as to provide students with initial skills and knowledge for future research studies or careers. Entry requirements for Western Sydney University - Sydney City Campus
A Bachelor degree, or An overseas qualification from a recognised university or tertiary institution that is equivalent to a Bachelor degree, or A Graduate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution or university. A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0 (or equivalent). TOEFL ibt: Total score 82, Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13.
