About the course

The M.Ed. in Special Education includes a heavy emphasis on teaching and learning with assistive technology, evidence-based behavioral strategies, and research. This graduate program has multiple emphasis areas such as options for initial teacher certification preparation, high incidence disabilities, and low incidence disabilities. Students who successfully complete the certificate coursework, state and program requirements, and required exams will be eligible to apply for Texas EC-12 (early childhood-12th grade) Special Education certification. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Texas - Arlington

You may apply as an international graduate student if you have completed a bachelor?s degree from either a U.S. regionally accredited college or university or its foreign equivalent before starting graduate study. UTA offers master?s degrees, doctoral degrees, and graduate certification programs. The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is on the Internet-based test 79 (with sectional scores of 22 writing, 21 speaking, 20 reading, and 16 listening), 550 on the paper-based test and 213 on the computer-based test. The IELTS can be substituted for TOEFL scores. The minimum acceptable overall score of 6.5 is required for admission. Undergraduate transcripts with a 3.0 GPA during the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework or 3.0 cumulative GPA, whichever is higher. Graduate transcripts with a 3.0 GPA on the last 9 graduate course work will be considered if criteria not met in undergraduate course work.
