About the course

Our Data Engineering specialisation will explore how data can be stored, accessed and processed, at large scale. It covers a variety of different computational environments, including cloud-hosted ones.

　　Data science and machine learning is opening up opportunities everywhere to improve decisions using large amounts of data. This specialisation will prepare you for the work of data science teams and utilising effective hardware and software infrastructure.

　　You will develop the analytical and technical skills to use data science to guide strategic decision making. Explore data mining, machine learning and data visualisation, and develop the skills to communicate data insights to key stakeholders effectively.

　　Our Master of Data Science is tailored for professionals with a strong mathematical or quantitative background who are passionate about drawing meaningful knowledge from data to drive business decision-making or research output.

How to apply

Entry requirements for The University of Sydney

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

　　a three year Australian bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline that demonstrates a background in computer programming and statistics with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or

　　the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Data Science with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or a qualification deemed to be equivalent, or

　　completed 24 credit points of the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Data Science or Graduate Certificate in Data Science with a minimum credit average (65 percent). The 24 credit points must include 12 credit points of Data Science Core units and 12 credit points of Data Science specialist elective units.

　　IELTS - A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band

　　TOEFL IBT - A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
