About the course

The Master of Data Analytics (MDA) is designed to produce technical professionals ready to pursue data science and analytics focused career within the public and private sectors.

　　The MDA program develops students? core competencies in computer science and statistics, equipping them with a set of highly sought-after, interdisciplinary technical data science and analytics skills. Students also customize their learning experience through the selection of a specialty field. The program culminates with an experiential learning opportunity where students will get practical, hands-on experience using their data science and analytics skills in a workplace environment.

How to apply

Entry requirements for Western University

Applicants must possess a four-year degree from an accredited university with a minimum average of 75% across courses taken in the last two full-time equivalent years of the undergraduate degree. Equivalent qualifications may be considered based on the standards of the discipline or profession.

　　The Master of Data Analytics program builds on students’ existing skills and knowledge in computer science and statistics. Successful applicants will have the following basic level of mathematical and computer science background, as demonstrated by achieving an average of at least 75% in the following list of fundamental courses: at least one half-course of calculus and one half-course of linear algebra, at least one half-course of calculus-based probability, at least one half-course of calculus-based statistics, and at least two half-courses of computer programming.

　　In addition, evidence of a certain level of mathematical maturity must be demonstrated by having successfully completed a mathematically mature course at the third or fourth year undergraduate level, with a mark of at least 75%. 　　The TOEFLiBT (internet-based) minimum overall score of 94 includes a Read and Listen minimum score 22, speak minimum score 26 and write minimum score 24.

　　The TOEFL-PBT (paper-based) has a minimum acceptable score of 587, which includes: Reading minimum score 56, listening minimum score 56, written expression minimum 61.

　　The International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) of the British Council: Minimum overall score: 7 out of 9, with no individual score less than 6.5. The IELTS is offered in 6 test centres in the US and 3 in Canada.
