Students take core courses in performance theory, dramaturgy and performance analysis, literature and/or history and specialize in a research area of their choosing ? this research can be in the form of a tradition written thesis, or a combination of performance practice as research and a shorter written thesis. Students also have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of courses offered within the School of Theatre and Dance, the college of Visual and performance arts or across the university, chosen in consultation with their academic supervisor. Examples of these include courses in film, creative writing, stage design and technology, education, etc. Students thereby can design their masters in theatre arts program to meet their research and learning needs, and their experience.
