About the course
As a student in the Madonna MATESOL (Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program you will become part of a diverse, vibrant community of professionals dedicated to ESL education. You will gain sound foundations in linguistics, second language acquisition theories, as well as in cultural aspects of language learning, teaching, and assessment with a clear focus on classroom practices. You will receive highly sought TESOL professional credentials, as our program, since its establishment in 1999, gained approval of the Michigan Board of Education for its ESL (NS) Endorsement Coursework and received national recognition from TESOL, the national organization of teachers of English to speakers of other languages. How to apply
Entry requirements for Madonna University
1. A bachelor degree from a regionally-accredited institution, or its foreign equivalent as evaluated by World Education Services.
2. In order to qualify for regular admission to the University, applicants who are non-native speakers of English must meet one of the following English language proficiency requirements:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, Canada (English-language institutions only), the Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa (Englishlanguage institutions only), or
Full four years of attendance at and graduation from a U.S. high school with standard track English, or
Internet Based TOEFL (iBT, Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 80, or
TOEFL paper-and-pencil test with a minimum score of 550, accompanied by the Test of Written English (TWE) with a minimum score of 5, IELTS score of 6.5+ or higher.
