About the course

The Master of Arts degree program in music is designed to increase the candidate's professional competence, to increase the ability for continued self-directed study, and to provide opportunity for greater depth in the chosen area of concentration within the field of music

　　Our program provides undergraduate and graduates instruction in music for those planning professional careers as performers, composers, and studio teachers, as well as those preparing for advanced degrees in performance and composition. It also provides State-approved subject matter preparation required for a California teaching credential in music, and graduate instruction for students planning professional and academic careers or seeking professional growth as K-12 teachers or junior college instructors. Students can also acquire a broad acquaintance with music for the community and non-music major.

How to apply

Entry requirements for California State University

Original or certified copies of all university transcripts with literal English translation. Any coursework presented after an offer of admission is made will not be considered for credit.

　　Financial document (no older than 6 months) & Affidavit of Support from sponsors showing the amount and source of support for a minimum of one school year of study.

　　Letters of Recommendation

　　TOEFL IBT 80, TOEFL PBT 550, IELTS 6.5

　　3.0 GPA/ Bachelors in Music (preferred)/ Transcripts/Audition/Interview (for composition & music education applicants) /Writing Sample/Personal Statement/GRE required for applicants below 3.0 GPA
