About the course

The M.A. in Education, TESOL Option is a program designed to meet the needs of English teachers in classrooms with English learners both in the United States and abroad. We offer specialization in K-12 education, adult ESL, program management, and college-level English teaching. Teaching English in California and around the world is a fast-growing profession.

The College of Education now offers a fully online MA-TESOL program as well as partially online (hybrid) and face-to-face classes. The fieldwork component (EESL 6900) requires supervised instruction, special arrangements can be made for online candidates to complete this at their locality.

The program features outstanding faculty with teaching and research interests in language and literacy development, innovative language-learning methods, and technology-enhanced instruction. A unified focus on language for communicative purposes draws together contemporary theories that focus on the language learner as a whole person. Courses in teaching methods and supervised fieldwork opportunities strengthen the knowledge of classroom techniques. Scholarships - View all scholarships Internships
