About the course
The Design Graduate Program focuses on the study of relationships between humans and their designed environments. The program addresses theory, research, and application, using a shared disciplinary base from the arts and social and behavioral sciences. The goal of the program is for students to analyze, evaluate, and integrate theoretical frameworks related to humans and their designed environments. Students may choose one of three tracks: Apparel Studies, Graphic Design, and Interior Design. Degree objectives include Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MS), Master of Fine Arts (MFA, Graphic Design only), and Doctor of Philosophy. We support collaborations across the campus. There are opportunities to take courses in related disciplines, work on research teams and take classes with graduate students from across campus. Entry requirements for University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
Anyone who has or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable degree from an officially recognized college or university outside the U.S. may apply for graduate admission.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.00.
Applicants must submit their test score(s) from the following:
General Test - Verbal Reasoning: 153
General Test - Quantitative Reasoning: 144
General Test - Analytical Writing: 4.0
TOEFL iBT - 79 total score (Writing subscore of 21 and Reading subscore of 19) (Test date within 2 years of program start)
IELTS - 6.5 total score (Writing subscore of 6.5 and Reading subscore of 6.5) (Test date within 2 years of program start)
