About the course
The master's degree in Communication Studies offers you the opportunity to learn about theory and research in Communication Studies by examining communication in human affairs and the symbolic processes through which humans interact. The curriculum is designed to facilitate your mastery of theory and research, to develop your research capabilities, and to enhance your preparation for a variety of careers or further graduate study.
The department offers coursework in rhetorical, performance and social science traditions. You'll have opportunities to explore communication from applied and theoretical perspectives using analytical, critical, quantitative, and qualitative methodologies.
Coursework features the investigation of communication in aesthetic/creative, intercultural, interpersonal, digital, legal, organizational, and political contexts. Opportunities to research topics of diversity and social justice, popular media, health, sports, embodied expression, and other topics are available.
The graduate experience is enhanced by opportunities to conduct research with faculty members, participate in regional and national festivals and professional conferences, and complete internships with corporations, social service organizations, and government agencies.

How to apply
Entry requirements for University of North Texas
Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree, its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. If admitted, original and official documents will be required before you can register for classes. Official transcripts are required for all U.S. schools attended before processing your application. Transcripts should be sent to the Toulouse Graduate School which will be reviewed and then sent to the academic department for an admission decision. UNT degree program applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency. Minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79 iBT, 213 computer, 550pBT, Minimum IELTS score is 6.0. 3.0 GPA in the undergraduate degree for admission to the Master’s program.
