About the course

This new, accelerated 12-month master course has been designed to meet changed health industry demands, both across the Australian health sector and globally, that require advanced practice clinicians, clinical leadership and clinical research skills in identified areas of healthcare.

　　The first of its kind in Western Australia, this course combines specialisations in clinical practice with research practice. It is suitable for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics and oral-health therapists wanting to develop distinctive careers involving research activities within clinical settings.

　　You will learn the skills of evidence-informed clinical practice, including relevant health-care policy standards and strategies that enable translation of evidence into practice.

　　You will also explore qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research processes, and related ethical considerations, for applied health research and evaluation practices.

　　Become a specialist in child and adolescent healthcare to enhance the wellbeing of children and their families in the community-health context. The Child and Adolescent Health Nursing specialisation is available to study as a graduate certificate and as part of the Master of Advanced Practice. It is suitable for registered nurses who are interested in the design and implementation of early-intervention strategies at the individual, family and community level. Your learning will be consolidated with a clinical placement that includes interprofessional learning and collaboration. Prior to your clinical placement you’ll complete a five-day, pre-clinical skills workshop at Curtin Perth. The Child and Adolescent Health Nursing specialisation is offered as an online course studied on a part-time basis only. We recommend that you study one or two units per semester.
