About the course

This new, accelerated 12-month master course has been designed to meet changed health industry demands, both across the Australian health sector and globally, that require advanced practice clinicians, clinical leadership and clinical research skills in identified areas of healthcare.

　　The first of its kind in Western Australia, this course combines specialisations in clinical practice with research practice. It is suitable for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics and oral-health therapists wanting to develop distinctive careers involving research activities within clinical settings.

　　You will learn the skills of evidence-informed clinical practice, including relevant health-care policy standards and strategies that enable translation of evidence into practice.

　　You will also explore qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research processes, and related ethical considerations, for applied health research and evaluation practices.

　　Build your specialty practice expertise through deeper knowledge of the physical, psychosocial and environmental aspects involved in patient care and clinical decision-making. The Advanced Specialty Practice specialisation is available to study as part of the Master of Advanced Practice. In addition, this specialisation explores the application of new and emerging technologies that are relevant to specialty practice. The Advanced Specialty Practice specialisation is offered as an online course studied on a part-time basis only. We recommend that you study one or two units per semester.
