About the course

The MAcc Advanced Accounting with Placement is a new integrated undergraduate programme (combining undergraduate and Masters-level study in one four year course), replacing BSc Accounting. It is unique in the UK and Ireland in offering:

  - A Master's-level qualification with undergraduate fees for all four years,

  - Exemption from Chartered Accountants Ireland CAP1 & CAP2 exams and maximum permitted

  exemptions from other professional bodies,

  - A paid work-based placement during Semester Two of Year Four, together with a work-related research project,

  - Alternative exit point after three years with students awarded BSc Accounting.

  The MAcc programme prepares students for a career in the accountancy profession. It contains lots of practical content, engagement with local employers and a work-based placement. Content includes Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing, Taxation and Finance, with increasing specialisation in Accounting Technologies, Ethics and Sustainability Reporting – matching developments in the accountancy profession. This new programme also embeds a range of skills expected of a future accounting professional, including critical thinking, digital readiness, communication, ethical decision-making, leadership and teamwork. How to apply

Entry requirements for Queen's University Belfast

IELTS - Academic -6.5 minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test, TOEFL iBT (Internet based test)- 90 with minimum marks as follows: Listening - 17, Reading - 18, Speaking - 20, Writing - 17. Please include official transcripts in English of your academic background to date, including high school certificates, English language qualifications, and transcripts of university study, if applicable. International Baccalaureate Diploma 35 points overall, including 6,6,6 at Higher Level. If not offered at Higher Level/GCSE, then Standard Level Grade 5 in Mathematics would be accepted.

  Irish leaving certificate requirements

  H2H3H3H3H3H3 + if not offered at Higher Level then Ordinary Level grade O3 in Mathematics is required.
