About the course

The MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is designed for any graduate who has a strong interest in language learning and teaching. This course is ideal if you want to acquire an in-depth knowledge of English and how to teach it, and to explore new developments in language teaching such as the use of technology in the classroom. The MA in TESOL at Hull is unusual in that we include a practical teaching component, with observed classroom practice an integral part of the course. As such, newcomers to teaching and experienced classroom practitioners alike can explore the role of a language teacher in the modern world. Students joining the programme also have the opportunity to apply for the Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The Trinity CertTESOL is an internationally recognised professional English language teaching qualification. Eligible students will be able to study towards a practical, professional qualification at the same time as the Masters, increasing their actual classroom experience and future employability. Interested candidates will need to be assessed and interviewed for this programme separately, demonstrating a high level of competence in spoken and written English, whether English is their first, second or additional language. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Hull

A 2.2 Honours degree (or international equivalent). Your personal statement must clearly highlight why you are interested in this programme. Applicants who do not meet our academic requirement but have relevant professional experience may also be considered.
