About the course

There are many interesting research problems at the interface between Chemistry and Physics. Students interested in these problems, may choose to take their Ph.D. degree in Chemical Physics, allowing them to conduct research in both the chemistry and physics departments. This program allows a deeper foundation in mathematics and physics than for the physical chemistry major. The requirements are flexible and are planned and approved by the Chemical Physics Committee and the individual student. The formal requirements are either those of a major in physical chemistry with a minor in physics or a major in physics with a minor in chemistry. How to apply

Entry requirements for Indiana University - Bloomington

Undergraduate degree in chemistry, physics, or mathemat­ics. Students who have interests in the physical sciences with undergraduate degrees in other fields, such as engineering, are also encouraged to apply, they will be considered on an individual basis. Admission to the program requires that the student first be admitted to the graduate program in chemistry or physics. A minimum score of 80 on the internet-based IBT TOEFL is required.

　　A 300-500 word Statement of Purpose regarding your current goals, plans for your professional career, and reasons for selecting a field of study.

　　Three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your ability to do scholarly work.
