About the course
The dual Doctor of Philosophy - Special Education and Juris Doctor (Ph.D. and J.D.) program prepares participants to navigate the complex legal and educational issues involved in assisting children with special needs. Prospective students must apply for and be accepted to each program individually. To graduate, students must earn between 134-143 credit hours and complete a doctoral dissertation.

How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Nevada
Applicants to the J.D./Ph.D. program must submit formal applications for admission to both the William S. Boyd School of Law and to the Graduate College. Students must meet the requirements for admission to both programs. Admission requirements are the same as those stated under the regular J.D. and Special Education Ph.D. programs. Bachelor’s Degree – You must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an approved international equivalent. Grade Point Average – You must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 (4.00=A) for your bachelor’s degree, or a minimum 3.00 (4.00=A) for the last two years (60 semester hours). Factors that may also be considered by the academic department to which you are applying include test scores (like the GRE or GMAT), the type of course work completed during undergraduate studies, letters of recommendation, writing samples or portfolios, and any other supporting documents your department/program may ask you to submit to complete your application. All applicants are required to submit a transcript from each postsecondary institution attended, showing all degrees and coursework, the dates awarded, and grades received. TOEFL (Internet-based) - Minimum score: 80, Paper‐based: Total minimum score 550, (Computer-based) Minimum score - 213. IETLS - Minimum score: 6.5.
