About the course

Forages, which includes both native (157 million acres rangeland) and introduced (111 million acres) plants that provide nutrients for domestic animals and wildlife, contributes to resource conservation and sustainability of land areas in Texas. Forages provide about 70% of the nutrients consumed during the lifetime of livestock, and are the foundation on which the Texas livestock industry is built. Forages are the only “crop” found in each of Texas’ 254 counties. Currently, cash receipts are more than 10 billion for livestock with about 8.5 billion attributed to beef cattle. In addition, forages contribute more than 700 million as hay and they are a major component of the 8.9 billion economic impact for wildlife resource. Forages also enhance water quality, serve as sites for the disposal of agricultural and municipal wastes, are renewable sources of energy, provide food and habitat for wildlife, and are used to revegetate disturbed lands and public right-of-ways. Entry requirements for Texas A and M University - College Station

Submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended to Office of Graduate Admissions.

　　The statement of purpose describing the student’s career goals and background information

　　A one page document that details to the Soil and Crop Sciences professors of interest why you want to pursue a graduate degree, your future goals, how our graduate degree will help you reach those goals, and some information about your personal background and development.

　　Three letters of reference.

　　Academic ability as evidenced by previous collegiate transcripts. A GPA of 3.0/4.0 system is required in the last 60 semester credit hours of undergraduate collegiate work for M.S. applicants and a 3.0 of all courses attempted in their M.S. program for Ph.D. applicants.

　　GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (Subject to departmental approval), a GMAT Verbal Score of at least 22 (Subject to departmental approval).

　　TOEFL - 550 for paper-based testing (p-BT) or 80 internet-based testing (i-BT). A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band. n
