About the course
Energy transformation and storage with the goal of meeting future energy demands and concurrently managing the consequences of energy conversion are emerging areas of research in both the chemical engineering and materials science fields and are a focal point of research in the CEMS department. Energy related research in CEMS spans synthesis of organic and inorganic materials on which all chemical transformation related to energy conversion and storage take place, extensive spectroscopic characterization and computational chemistry studies of materials required for energy transport and electrochemical energy conversion and storage, as well as mechanistic studies and design of chemical rate processes. Making inroads into addressing the energy challenge requires tandem expertise in theory and experiment, and the CEMS program represents an integrated platform at the crossroads of materials chemistry and chemical engineering to advance, develop, and discover energy-related chemistries, processes, and technologies.
