About the course

If you are eager to pursue research in high-performance materials for sustainability, public health, global competitiveness and national defense, then you have arrived at the right place. We play an active role in translating fundamental research results into real-world applications. Joining our program will prepare you to excel and adapt to an evolving, open-ended future, as part of a mutually supportive and inclusive community. The MS and PhD degrees involve extensive research, leading to a thesis or dissertation, respectively. The MMSE degree does not include a thesis and is often achieved by off-grounds graduate students enrolled in the SEAS distance-learning program VIRGINIA ENGINEERING ONLINE (VEO). The program of study for each of these degrees has been developed consistent with the principles of academic excellence as a foundation for cutting-edge research and cross-disciplinary learning. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Virginia

Applicants must have earned a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or an equivalent degree from a non-U.S. institution. , English proficiency requirement - A total score of at least 600 on the PBT TOEFL, 90 on iBT TOEFL , 250 on the CBT TOEFL, or 7.0 on the IELTS is required.
