W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation, first find an area of focus you're interested in pursuing and faculty members who have graduate study opportunities in that area. Contact the CFC faculty members who have similar interests to you by selecting any name in that area.Our doctoral program offers you the opportunity to conduct rigorous, meaningful research on a broad range of forest and conservation sciences topics. You'll complete a dissertation based on original and creative work. You'll investigate and analyze a range of scientific, technical or managerial subjects. You must be accepted as a student by a College of Forestry and Conservation faculty member in order to apply for admission to our PhD program. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Montana
Applicants must provide transcripts of all previous college work. Unofficial transcripts can be submitted for application review. Accepted applicants will be asked to provide an official transcript showing all degrees received. Applicants already enrolled in or who have received a degree from UM do not need to submit a transcript. Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for M.S. programs and 3.5 in graduate work for PhD programs.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores of 153 Verbal, 148 Quantitative, and 4.0 Analytical for tests taken after August 1, 2011.
For GREs taken prior to August 1, 2011 the minimum scores are 500 Verbal, 600 Quantitative, and 4.0 Analytical.
For applicants whose native language is not English, the minimum TOEFL score is 79 for internet-based tests, 215 for computer-based tests, and 550 for paper-based tests. (International applicants are still required to take the GRE even if they did not attend an English-speaking university so that our faculty can assess their quantitative skills.)
