About the course

We study the interplay between development and evolution to understand organismal diversity. Evo-Devo has experienced great advances in the last three decades with the revolutionary impact of developmental genetics, systematics, and, most recently, comparative genomics. As a result, Evo-Devo has become a thriving modern science at the interface of molecular developmental biology, genomics, systematics, and paleontology that seeks to understand the mechanisms and processes of evolutionary change.

Entry requirements for University of Chicago

The admissions committee takes into consideration the entire application package, including submitted transcripts and scores, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, and, especially, academic and research background. All postsecondary education transcripts from which a degree was awarded , Transcripts must be scanned and uploaded to the link provided in the online application. Your Research Statement should discuss your academic and career objectives. Be specific about the field in which you plan to study and your particular research interests. Three letters of recommendation, GRE test scores are optional. If submitted they must be from within the last five years. The University of Chicago institution code is 1832. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum score for admission to the BSD is 104 overall with subscores of 26 each. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Please note: only the Academic Reading/Writing test, not the General Training Reading/Writing test, is acceptable. The minimum score for admission to the BSD is 7 overall with subscores of 7 each.
