About the course

Development of technologies for harnessing energy from renewable resources and for reducing the environmental impact of world-wide resource consumption is now receiving major national and international attention. In the Chemical & Biological Engineering Department at Drexel University, there are several faculty leading innovative research programs related to Energy and the Environment. Examples of research projects include: production of biodiesel from natural and waste oils containing high free-fatty-acid contents, developing new materials for higher efficiency solar cells, deriving polymers from renewable fatty acid monomer, and modifying the composition and structure of fuel cell catalyst layers for better performance. Entry requirements for Drexel University

Students should fulfill Drexel University's general requirements for admission to graduate studies. The subjects normally included in an undergraduate program in chemical engineering provide a satisfactory background. Decisions regarding prerequisite qualifications for students who may be deficient in some areas are made after consultation with the departmental graduate advisor.

　　Acceptance for graduate study at Drexel University requires a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or an equivalent international institution. Although admission requirements vary by program, regular acceptance typically requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (B) for undergraduate work. The average for any graduate work must be at least 3.0. Applicants for post-master's status must show potential for further study by having maintained at least a 3.0 average in their master's-level studies. (Individual departmental requirements may exceed this minimum.)

　　GRE test scores are required, minimum score varies.

　　Essay-Please write approximately 500 words explaining your reasons for pursuing a degree from Drexel, your short-term and long-term career plans, and how your background, experience, interest, and/or values, when combined with a Drexel degree, will enable you to pursue these goals successfully.

　　Resume- Upload your résumé as part of your admission application or through the Discover Drexel Portal after you submit your application.

　　Two letters of recommendation are required.

　　TOEFL scores are required for international applicants or applicants who earned a degree outside the U.S. (minimum scores: 100/600/250). Scores will be reviewed based on section scores and total scores. IELTS scores may be submitted in lieu of TOEFL scores (minimum Overall Band Score: 7.0).
