How to apply
Entry requirements for Georgia Institute of Technology
Applications are encouraged from students having a B.S. or M.S. in any field of geophysical or environmental science, including atmospheric science, oceanography, geophysics, and geology. Applicants with degrees in physics, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and computer science are particularly encouraged. Applications from other fields will be considered as long as the student as adequate technical background (in math, physics, and/or chemistry) for the discipline of interest. Grade Point Average (GPA): TThe average undergraduate GPA scores for those beginning their enrollment in the School of EAS in 2006 were: Master's students: 3.20, Doctoral students: 3.40 (on a 4-point scale). An applicant is rarely admitted with a GPA below 3.0. For international students whose native language is not English, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. The minimum acceptable score on the original computer-based TOEFL is 213, and 90 for the current version of the TOEFL. Paper-based test scores are still accepted, the minimum score is 570.
