About the course

Researchers in the School are integrating basic and applied science in the idenification of new biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets which will determine future pathways of diagnosis and treatment. Emphasis is placed on targeted drug therapy, where drugs are tailored to the genetic make-up of the individual, an approach known as personalised medicine. Novel drugs and mechanisms of delivery are being developed for renal disease, cardiovascular disease, diseases of the nervous system including retinopathies (diseases of the eye) and various types of cancer. Entry requirements for University College Dublin

To pursue postgraduate studies in SBBS you will be expected to have a minimum of a second class honours degree in in the relevant subject area. You will also be expected to be competent in English. Applicants to research degree programmes in UCD must meet the University Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirement of a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with not less than 6 in any strand in the Academic Version or equivalent. Toefl - A minimum score of 600 in the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), with Test of Written English at 475 + A minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (iBT) with a score of at least 20 in each section
