About the course
The computer science program provides opportunities for students to join vibrant collaborative and interdisciplinary efforts in artificial intelligence, computer animation and virtual environments, cyber-physical systems, distributed real-time and embedded middleware, human-systems integration, image processing, intelligent learning environments, model-integrated computing, robotics, software engineering and trustworthy computing. Students can explore a broad range of research areas in computer science, as well as interdisciplinary research opportunities in areas related to the School of Engineering's strategic directions in health care and medicine, security, energy and natural resources and entertainment.
The department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Vanderbilt University offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in Computer Science (CS). The graduate program in CS is structured around four primary areas: (1) Computing foundations, (2) Computer and network systems, (3) Information and intelligent systems, and (4) Medical image computing. The CS graduate program encourages both fundamental and interdisciplinary research. How to apply
Entry requirements for Vanderbilt University
Qualified applicants with bachelor’s or comparable non-U.S. degrees in computing are eligible for admission to the CS Graduate Program. Students with other than computing degrees in engineering or natural science but with a strong emphasis on computing will be considered. Submission of scores on the General Test of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required as part of the application to the Graduate School. The GRE Subject Test in Computer Science is not required but it is encouraged. Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not received a degree at an English-speaking university must submit scores on the TOEFL.
