About the course

The School of Communication at The Ohio State University offers a unique graduate program for studying the underlying mechanisms and theoretical explanations for communication phenomena. We encourage our students to become their own scholars, finding their place in the larger study of communication processes and effects by working with multiple faculty across specializations and using multiple methods. We also have state-of-the-art facilities that allow for a broad range of research.

  In the Ph.D. program in Communication at The Ohio State University, students work ly with world-renowned faculty on current research. In coursework, the emphasis is on understanding the body of knowledge in communication and on learning how to use what is known to generate new knowledge through research. In addition to gaining a solid grounding in the communication literature, through our Ph.D. program students learn the skills necessary to develop solid academic careers through teaching, attending professional conferences and publishing their own research. How to apply

Entry requirements for Ohio State University - Columbus

A baccalaureate or professional degree (or equivalent foreign credential) from an accredited college or university, earned by the expected date of entry into your graduate program.

  A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the last degree earned.

  The School of Communication requires a minimum cumulative grade point average equivalent to at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for prior undergraduate work and, if applicable, at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in prior graduate level work.

  640 Paper-based TOEFL

  111 Internet-based TOEFL (IBT), a score of 28 on the speaking section of the IBT required for financial aid
