About the course
The program takes social scientific and critical approaches to the study of communication. The MA program is designed to further enhance the understanding of the communication process by allowing students to study various aspects of communication in greater depth. The doctoral program is designed for those interested in specializing in a specific area of communication research. The graduate program offers specializations in: Interpersonal and Family Communication, Mediated Communication, Organizational Communication, Political Communication, Health and Crisis Communication, and Identity and Diversity Communication. Our PhD program is a research-intensive program where students become experts in communication scholarship, reporting original findings in their specific focus area of study. Our PhD program aims to prepare future faculty members with superior research and teaching experience. We have a 95% completion rate of PhD students enrolled in the program. Entry requirements for University of Missouri
Unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts.Have earned a 3.0 or better GPA in the last 60 hours of baccalaureate coursework (for applicants with less than a master’s degree).International applicants must submit either TOEFL or IETS scores. The required TOEFL scores are 550 paper-based, 80 internet-based. The IELTS must be 5.5 or higher.Admission procedures for students who have completed the MA degree elsewhere and wish to become PhD candidates are identical to the departmental requirements outlined for MA candidates. Only those applicants who show evidence of a clear likelihood of successful doctoral work are admitted.
