About the course

Organic chemistry encompasses the creation and study of molecules that are built from carbon. As such, organic molecules are the foundations of biochemistry, biotechnology, medicines, and industries that depend on synthetic materials.

　　The Ph.D. in chemistry is the primary graduate program offered by the Department of Chemistry. For the doctoral degree program, completion of a minimum of 72 credit hours is required, unless the student holds a prior master?s degree in chemistry, in which case a minimum of 54 hours are required. Chemistry is a dynamic field with diverse applications. Chemists are working with scientists across disciplines on solutions to some of the biggest problems facing society, including clean air and water, energy resources and cures for disease. Entry requirements for North Carolina State University - Raleigh
