About the course

The Ph.D. in business administration with a marketing option provides intensive study in marketing while preparing you for significant professional contributions in university research and teaching. The goal is to train students to advance the theory and practice of the marketing discipline. This is carried out within the structure of formal coursework and through informal individual and small-group research efforts. The OSU program emphasizes personal interaction between faculty and students through activities such as a speaker series, research paper series, joint research and social gatherings. 　　International Students: All doctoral students in our doctoral program teach classes. In accordance with University policy, international applicants must meet the University’s TOEFL/IELTS testing requirement for international instructors. International applicants must submit a test score with a minimum TOEFL score of 100 (iBT) including a 22 or above on the speaking portion. The equivalent IELTS score is 7.0 overall and 7.0 speaking. The submitted score must be less than two years old at the time of application. An applicant is considered an international student for this requirement unless they completed high school in the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Canada (except for Quebec). Holding a Master’s Degree from a U.S. University DOES NOT exempt an international applicant from this requirement.
