About the course
The program of study for the degree Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in conducting is divided into five areas including conducting as the major field, a minor field of concentration, music history and music theory, music in higher education, and research. The minor field may be selected from any of the major field options not elected as the major field or from the areas of music theory or musicology/ethnomusicology.
At least two consecutive semesters of full-time work (enrollment for a minimum of 20 hours of consecutive coursework included on the program of study) must be spent in resident study on the campus of the University of Georgia. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Georgia
Applicants to doctoral degree programs in music must hold a master's degree in music from an institution accredited by the proper regional accrediting assocation, or, in the judgment of the School of Music Faculty, have equivalent competencies.
Minimum TOEFL score requirement: overall score of 80 with at least 20 on speaking and writing
Minimum IELTS score requirement: overall band-width of 6.5, with no single band (score) below 6.0.
