About the course
Our programs develop first-rate performers, conductors, composers, and educators. Our strengths in both academic and applied music study, as well as our commitment to fostering an environment that is both intellectually rigorous and supportive, are distinct characteristics of our graduate program. We also emphasize a diversity of viewpoints and experiences. Our graduate students work with internationally recognized faculty who are leaders in the discipline, engaging students in ground-breaking research in musical theory, composition, and practice. Our graduate programs center around a strong sense of community and collaboration, with working relationships between faculty and students. The School of Music offers the degrees of master of arts (M.A.), master of music (M.M.), doctor of musical arts (D.M.A.), and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.).
