About the course

This program is designed for students to consider the field of recreation as a career with a focus on youth, including additional insight into western education and culture specific communication. Students will explore using a hands-on approach how to enhance experiences in recreation, sports, and leisure that foster inclusivity, community, and more resilient youth. Students will learn critical thinking, decision-making, and risk management skills that empower them to lead effectively and respond to challenges. The Youth Recreation and Leadership and Communication Co-op Diploma Program is ideally suited to international students and Canadian newcomers as it includes Canadian communication and culture courses. Through these added communication courses students will enhance their communication skill development, gain an overview of Canadian education culture, and learn the business and academic-specific terminology. Graduates of this program will be prepared for a variety of positions in the field of youth recreation, including (but not limited to) Community Recreation Facilitator, Summer Camp Counselor, Summer Camp Activity Specialist, Youth Program Assistant, Youth Program Coordinator, Outdoor Education Assistant, Guest Services Coordinator, Resort Activity Facilitator, Before and After School Educator. How to apply

Entry requirements for Tamwood - Canada

No Criminal Record (police check required)

  Minimum 65% in either English 12, English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, ENGL 090, or equivalent.

  Or

  Successful completion of three consecutive full-time years of secondary school and/or post-secondary education taught in the English language in a country where English is the principal language.

  International Students must demonstrate intermediate level English with Tamwood Careers? online test and interview.
