About the course
Help improve the lives of young people in your community with a career in youth justice.The two-year Youth Justice Diploma program teaches topics in substance use, mental health, Indigenous experiences, youth crime, and the criminal justice system, among others, that will prepare you to engage with young people in a trauma-informed way. You?ll learn how to work with young people to meaningfully address their risk factors and promote resiliency.
A practical education
During your education, you'll take part in two supervised practicums. These practicum placements often lead to permanent positions. You'll do practicums in a variety of settings, including schools, residential services, community-based agencies, outreach programs, social and recreational settings, custody centres, community centres and neighbourhood houses, and Indigenous agencies. Entry requirements for Douglas College
High school graduation OR minimum 17 years of age by the end of the first month of studies in the semester of entry to Douglas College, and Minimum overall grade average of 60%. International Baccalaureate (IB) English Language A – Standard Level :- Minimum grade of 3 or C. IELTS (Academic Module):- Overall score of 6.5, TOEFL iBT:- Overall score of 83. Meet the minimum age requirement of 19 years by November 1st of the first semester Successful participation in a formal selection process to determine suitability and program readiness Successful completion of 60 hours paid or volunteer experience in an approved setting Criminal Record Search (CRS) - Information to be provided by the Office of the Registrar after successful completion of above requirements
