About the course

This program was formerly called Conservation and Restoration Ecology (CARE).

  As a graduate, you?ll make a different for plants, soils, water and wildlife for future generations. You?ll know how to renew, restore and conserve everything from grasslands to forests. and from butterflies to bison.

  You?ll learn how through science and practical field skills.

  You?ll start learning field skills from your first day. In first year, you?ll be introduced to the many facets of environmental science.

  In second year you?ll focus on: best management practices, stewardship techniques

  Your outdoor classrooms, field labs, are where you?ll practice applied skills and gather data. You?ll use that data in classrooms and labs. Some examples include how to: identify critical habitat requirements for plants and animals, use environmental standards to classify wetland, water bodies, forest and grassland, assess, inventory and map disturbed and undisturbed ecosystems

  apply restoration techniques to real rural and urban landscapes, collect field data and report per industry standards

  As a land stewardship and conservation graduate you'll find an expanding range of your possible careers.

How to apply

Entry requirements for Lakeland College

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - a minimum score of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 on each band score. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)- Minimum of 85 on the iBT exam and a minimum score of 21 in each of the four tested areas. Copies of high school and other transcripts are required. High school diploma with a minimum of 50% in: English 30-1 or 65% in English 30-2. Chemistry 30 (recommended) or 65% in Chemistry 20. Biology 30 (recommended) or 65% in Biology 20. Math 30-1 or 60% in Math 30-2. You'll need English 30-1, Chemistry 30, Biology 30 or Math 30-1 if you go on to further studies at a university.
