About the course

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

　　Care for people needing support with a Certificate III in Individual Support. This course prepares students to provide individualised support in working roles. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person- centred support.

　　This course is available with either a Disability or Aged Care specialisation. There is a minimum of 15 supervised scheduled face to face course contact hours on campus per week as well as 5 distance / online education hours per week. This comes to a total of 20 hours per week, which includes the work placement hours. Students are also required to undertake reading, activities, research, assessments and homework. This course requires a minimum of 120 hours practical placement to be completed over the period of the qualification. Placement must occur for the full duration of the study in the qualification.
