About the course
This unique interdisciplinary programme provides students with detailed knowledge and understanding of forensic, analytical, and pharmaceutical science. Students gain knowledge and critical skills in areas of crime scene investigation, forensic evidence examination, instrumental techniques, pharmaceutical technology, drug analysis, statistical analysis, quality assurance, molecular and immunobiology. Great emphasis is placed on the acquisition of hands-on analytical skills in these areas resulting in graduates that are highly sought after by employers.
Graduates of the programme will have a great mix of skills and knowledge needed for today’s employment market and are hugely sought after by employers. Graduates gain employment in a range of sectors including forensic and state laboratories and in pharmaceutical, analytical or biotechnology type industries. How to apply
Entry requirements for Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest
Application to this programme will be through the Central Applications Office (CAO) for entry to stage 1. Applicants must satisfy the minimum stage1 entry requirement of A minimum of 2 H5 & 4 O6/H7 grades in six Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and English or Irish. In practice, entry levels will be above the minimum and points will be calculated from the six best subjects from one sitting
Application for entry to subsequent stages will be through LIT’s admissions office (ref Admissions Office Policy and Procedure P016A, and Undergraduate Advanced Entry Application Form F008A). In addition applicants wishing to have prior experiential (non-certified) and accredited (certified) learning recognised may apply under LIT’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy and Procedures (Academic Council Regulations and Procedures for Taught Programmes Part 1 Section 5) using forms ACRP 5001, ACRP 5002 and the Admissions Office Policy and Procedure form F024A as appropriate.
