BSc (Hons) Human Biology

About the course

Human biology explores the scientific principles that underlie investigations into the human body from a molecular and cellular level to the integrated systems of the whole body. This course examines how the body functions in health, during normal healthy ageing and disease, and includes the study of contemporary scientific research and clinical applications. You will learn from world-class researchers from across the College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences, giving you the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics relevant to your own career goals. We offer a broad experience in practical skills, with many laboratory classes supported by interactive, multi-media resources. Our staff will support and encourage you throughout your degree to achieve your full potential.

As a wide-ranging degree, Human Biology will equip you with skills relevant to a diverse range of science-related careers, including in bioscience, healthcare and education, as well as for other graduate roles such as marketing and management. Many of our recent graduates have entered further training for careers as doctors, physiotherapists, or teachers. Some have entered careers in scientific research, scientific publishing and business management, whilst others have taken postgraduate courses in areas such as cardiovascular science, stratified medicine and public health.
