Students enrolling in this program as undergraduates earn a joint B.S.-M.S. degree through an integrated 5-year curriculum. Students who already hold a Bachelor of Science degree can earn the non-thesis M.S. in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology degree, in this case, two years may be required to complete the M.S. degree because some required courses are offered in alternate years. The curriculum includes coursework in ecology, evolution, systematics, and natural history, with relevant training in public policy, economics, and ethics. Potential career tracks range from conservation planning to environmental education, endangered species management to museum curation. Potential employers include non-governmental organizations, state and federal agencies, and environmental consulting firms. Nearly 90% of the program?s graduates find employment in the field. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Connecticut
A strong academic foundation is the key to a successful admission application. International freshman applicants must complete secondary school (equivalent to U.S. grades 9-12) and be eligible to enter a university in their own country prior to the expected entry date to the University of Connecticut.
International applicants should have college preparatory coursework in the core subjects of English (if offered), mathematics, physical science, and social science reflected throughout their high school academic careers. Students applying to the school of Nursing or Engineering must have taken secondary school level physics and chemistry.
The personal essay is required and provides the applicant an opportunity to add a unique voice to the application as well as demonstrate writing ability.
Your submitted high school transcript(s) should include your senior classes, class rank (if applicable), and latest grades earned.
UConn requires official SAT or ACT scores to be sent directly from the appropriate test provider.
The minimum score requirement for the TOEFL is 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum score requirement for the IELTS exam is 6.5.
