About the course

The Construction Management major with a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Both the Construction Engineering Technology and Construction Management degree curriculums begin with a practical approach to construction materials and methods education then proceeds through appropriate laboratory and construction project management and engineering technology coursework. The Construction Engineering Technology major adds engineering fundamentals while the Construction Management major adds courses in residential construction, civil construction, safety, virtual design/construction, field management and company management. Both programs include a simulated real-world capstone experience. The School of Construction sponsors several student organizations and honor societies. Both majors prepare students for professional careers in construction and construction-related industries. Opportunities include professional positions as field engineers, estimators, project engineers, superintendents, project managers, owners and safety managers. These positions are available in the commercial, residential, civil, industrial, engineering, and specialty sectors of the construction industry locally, nationally and internationally. The construction curriculum emphasizes current technology, leadership skills, ethics and professionalism. Industry-specific computer applications include CAD, scheduling, estimating and modeling are presented to the student in early coursework and used throughout the curriculum. Laboratories utilize modern industry-grade equipment in appropriate areas. The School of Construction maintains ties to industry and alumni, and are strongly supported in the form of scholarships, equipment, advisement, and graduate placement. Entry requirements for Pittsburg State University

Complete official transcripts or academic records in native language and official English translation including grades earned in each subject. Copy of the secondary school or high school certificate of completion or diploma, if applicable. High School Academic Records: A minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in high school and have earned a high school diploma. International College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in an accredited international post secondary institution (college/university). TOEFL score of at least 520 (paper) or 68 (internet) is required. In addition, a minimum score of 15 is required in each section (internet).
