About the course
The B.S. in Polymer and Color Chemistry is a flexible, rigorous program in applied chemistry that provides courses in fundamental chemistry, while incorporating the unique areas of applied polymer and color chemistry. The applied courses are heavily oriented to the chemistry and technology of polymers, including polymer synthesis, extrusion and characterization. In addition, the color chemistry component of the degree includes the synthesis and application of dyes and other compounds associated with the coloration of materials, textile wet processing (i.e. preparation and finishing), chemistry of textile auxiliaries as well as the science of color perception and color measurement. The program is designed to expose students to the technical and scholarly disciplines of polymer chemistry, fiber formation, color physics, dyeing, and chemical modification of fabrics, and gives them an opportunity to learn how basic disciplines are applied in an industrial environment.
