About the course

The undergraduate degree programs we offer at the Department of Physics and Astronomy are nationally recognized for their rigor. Our programs provide an extremely strong preparation, not only for graduate studies in physics, astronomy, or related fields, but also for rewarding careers in technological, medical, and engineering fields, and many others. You will be sought after by employers. The BS in Physics is intended for students who seek a research career in physics. You have the option to add a concentration in this degree: the Biophysics Concentration, the Optics Concentration, or the Earth and Planetary Sciences Concentration, reflecting some of the research strengths of the department and important industries in New Mexico. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of New Mexico

Secondary Education: Completion of the equivalent of an American upper secondary school education (approximately twelve years of formal education beginning at age six) and have the appropriate diplomas or satisfactory results on leaving examinations (if completed).

　　Academic Preparation: Strong academic preparation or a U.S. equivalent grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (for freshman applicants) or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (for transfer students with the equivalent of 24 college credithours).

　　ACT and SAT are NOT required for admission to UNM as an international student.
