Program Learning Outcomes for the BS Degree with a Major in Physics and a Major Concentration in Applied Physics

　　Upon completing the BS Degree with a major in Physics, students will be able to:

　　Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental concepts in Mechanics.

　　Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental concepts in Electromagnetism.

　　Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental concepts in Quantum Mechanics.

　　Additionally, upon completing the BS degree with a major in Physics and a major concentration in Applied Physics, students will be able to:

　　Be knowledgable in the applications of physics concepts to real world devices and applications.

　　Demonstrate proficiency in research techniques and methodology under guidance of a faculty member.

Entry requirements for Rice University

Official high school transcripts including grades from first marking period. Supporting Financial Documentation. Rice welcomes applications from students who have been homeschooled. The new, redesigned SAT (Reading/Writing/Language and Math - SAT Essay is optional). The ACT (Writing is optional). If you have received two years of instruction in English, you are not required to submit the TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) is 100, or a sum total of 75 on the TOEFL PDT (paper-delivered test). The minimum acceptable score on the IELTS is 7.
