About the course

The Department of Physics is preparing students for a broad range of 21st century careers in physics, applied physics, astronomy, finance, management, medicine and a variety of related fields. Through the study of physics, we teach a quantitative approach to problem solving that is just as relevant to financial analysis or bio-engineering as it is a research career in physics. We aim to promote scientific literacy among the general public directly through our classes for non-majors and indirectly by encouraging majors to consider careers in education. The department offers both B.A. and B.S. degrees as well as the M.A. and the Ph.D. programs that are ranked among the best in the nation. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of California - Santa Barbara

Freshman applicants are students who have:

　　Completed their secondary education and have earned a certificate of completion which enables them to be admitted to a

　　university in their home country

　　Never been enrolled as a university student

　　Take the ACT with Writing Test, SAT with Writing or SAT with Essay by December of your last year at secondary school

　　Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination:

　　Internet-based test (iBT): Minimum score of 80 or better

　　Paper-based test (completed prior to Oct. 2017): Minimum score of 550 or better

　　Revised paper-delivered test (completed Oct. 2017 or later): Minimum score of 60 or better

　　International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination (academic modules): Accepted with a 6.5 or better
