About the course

The BS in mathematics and statistics will prepare you for a career in a wide range of fields. At the same time, it is excellent preparation for medical school, dental school, or law school, or to pursue graduate work in mathematics, statistics, or fields like biostatistics, business administration, computer science, engineering, linguistics, operations research, and philosophy. Mathematics is the foundation of many disciplines across the sciences and beyond, and the mathematics and statistics degree at UMass Amherst will teach you about the most important themes in the field. You?ll learn everything from background concepts to computing paradigms (whether in Java, Python, MATLAB, R, and/or SAS).
